Life (and death) on the bubble

The point of the NCAA Tournament, as I understand it, is to determine the best team in college basketball. I’m far from a NCAA committee member, but I am logical in this thought: To be the best, you have to beat the best. In no way am I saying they’re the best, but our Illini have beaten many of the best.

Fans have reason to be upset, but breathe easy for basketball’s future

The Illini dropped their second straight home game, this one to unranked Minnesota. The same issues in this game plagued the Illini last time we saw them at the Assembly Hall, a blowout at the hands of Ohio State. They came out flat. They were completely dumbfounded by the zone defense. They didn’t play off the crowd enough. They let the opponent dictate the pace. Plain and simply, they didn’t play well.
