Student falls from third floor
A student was transported to Carle Hospital Saturday morning after falling from a third story window of the Theta Chi fraternity house in Urbana.
Jonathan Platek fell from the house, 1404 S. Lincoln Ave., around 3 a.m. Saturday. He was taken to Carle Hospital that morning and has been upgraded from serious to stable condition as of print time, according to the hospital.
Platek is a member of Theta Chi and a sophomore in LAS. The chief executive of Theta Chi, Dave Westol, said they are thinking about Platek.
"Our hopes and thoughts and prayers are with our young brother," Westol said.
Westol also said that Platek's parents arrived soon after he fell and have been in touch with the chapter members.
Ted Bodine, president of the University Theta Chi chapter and senior in LAS, will be filing a report with Theta Chi and said he will be sending the report Monday afternoon. Bodine echoed Westol's concerns and said the house "is doing everything we can for (Platek)."
