Illini volleyball advances to Sweet 16
It was a shaky start for the Illinois volleyball team, but it made it out on top Friday night in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, beating Dayton in four sets.
The first set went to Dayton, 28-26, going back and forth the entire time.
The second set had nothing but Illini power, as senior Kylie McCulley led the way with five kills and three blocks. Freshman Erin Johnson had a powerful set, posting four blocks.
Illinois kept its momentum strong in the third set, winning 25-17. DeBruler and sophomore Michelle Bartsch had five kills and four blocks each.
In the final set, the competition was close again but Illinois prevailed 25-18.
The Illini now continue to the Sweet 16, which will take place in Stanford, Calif, on Friday.
