Illini assistants in contention for head coaching position
Illinois men’s basketball assistant coaches Jerrance Howard and Jay Price are among those being considered for the UIC Flames head coaching spot.
Howard has been a hot commodity as of late, after turning down assistant coaching spots at Kentucky, Marquette and Louisville. The Illini kept him after giving him a raise.
The Peoria, Ill., native has been praised for his recruiting ability and at just 30 years old is considered one of the up and coming coaches.
Price, meanwhile, has more than 20 years of coaching experience, with eight at Illinois.
The Flames posted an 8-22 record last season and were a dismal 1-15 in away games.
