Quincy Veterans' Home receives $2.4 million for construction project

A $2.4 construction project was announced for the Quincy Veterans’ Home.

According to a press release, Governor Pat Quinn announced the project as part of the Illinois Jobs Now! capital construction program to begin this fall.

Quincy is the state’s oldest and largest Veterans’ home.

The main parts of the project are replacement of the chimney stack and improvement of the heating and air conditioning.

The general contract for the chimney stack replacement was awarded to Waterkotte Construction Inc. of Quincy for $2.056 million. The heating and air conditioning contract went to Doyle Plumbing and Heating Co. of Jacksonville for $380,629.

According to the press release, the project will create approximately 17 construction jobs and should be completed by late 2011.
