Public safety agencies and medical facilities participated in a training that tests the delivery of essential healthcare in a pandemic.

According to a press release, the project was sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and included representatives the Champaign and Urbana police and fire departments, Provena Covenant Medical Center and Carle Foundation Hospital and Physician Group.

The training is designed to test the local response and provide improvement and planning for the future.

The project is a part of the Regional Emergency Coordination Group which involves the University and meets quarterly to discuss matters of preparedness and response policies.

Although the training is provided to the agencies, each individual agency conducts in-house training on a regular basis.

The University has also created a 24/7 Emergency Call Center to provide assistance and information during a critical time.
