Beutjer named starter again
10:51 PM 10/4/2004 — After a subpar performance by his star quarterback on Saturday against Wisconsin, Illinois head coach Ron Turner waited to decide who would start this weekend's game against Michigan State.
But after reviewing tape and evaluating the performances of the three Illinois quarterbacks who played in Illinois' loss to the Badgers, Turner decided to stick with the familiar candidate, Jon Beutjer.
Young Illini gain valuable experience
11:24 AM 11/3/2004 — Among some of the best competition in the country at the Kentucky Fall Invitational this weekend, the Illini women's tennis team learned a lot about itself and what it will take to get to the next level of competition.
The Illini finished with a record of 12-16 in singles and 4-4 in doubles, but they were not concerned as much about results as they were with improving upon their last tournament.

Team looks to repeat last season's record
10:50 PM 10/4/2004 — Interest in lacrosse has been growing across the country over the past couple of years. The sport's appeal has apparently spread to the Midwest. In the last three years, 18 teams have joined the Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference. Half of those teams are located in the Midwest.
Illinois beats Fredonia State
10:47 PM 10/4/2004 — Sophomore goaltender Mike DeGeorge was unbeatable this weekend in two wins against Fredonia State - 5-0 and 9-0. In Friday's game, the Illini peppered Fredonia State senior goaltender Ryan Brennan with 15 shots in the first period, but ended it with just a 1-0 lead on a short-handed goal by senior forward Scott Kohler.
