Football ends drought, finally
11:13 PM 11/7/2004 — It certainly wasn't the best game in the seniors' tenure at Illinois. But Saturday's 26-22 win over Indiana will probably be the game the team of seniors will remember for the rest of their lives.
And why shouldn't they? The Illini rallied from a 19-point first quarter deficit to snap a 14-game Big Ten losing streak.
DeHeart makes history
11:16 PM 11/7/2004 — Ryler DeHeart was a freshman fighting for a spot in Illinois' lineup when the men's tennis team won the 2003 NCAA team title. Last season, he finished with a season-high No. 44 ranking. This year he has come into his own - winning the singles title at the 2004 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Indoor Championships on Sunday.

And now, 714 days later, the 14-game Big Ten losing streak is over.
Soccer fails to advance in Big Ten tournament
11:17 PM 11/7/2004 — It was a tale of two halves for the Illini soccer team in Friday's loss to No. 3 Penn State in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals.
The Illini came out flat, allowing the top-seeded Nittany Lions to gain a 2-0 lead going into halftime.
In the second half, the Illini came out with more intensity and tied the game at two apiece, only to let it slip away in the game's final minutes.

Illinois finding new ways to win
11:14 PM 11/7/2004 — The Illini Hockey Club has won in every situation this season - blowout, come-from-behind and now a shootout as well. The two wins this weekend against Iowa State showed that no matter what gets thrown at it, the team somehow comes out on top. If the defense plays badly, the offense steps up.
Points record broken in exhibition
11:21 PM 11/7/2004 — On Sunday afternoon, the Illini women's basketball team made history in its 114-74 win against BK Poprad of Slovakia. By scoring 114 points, the Illini broke their record for most points scored in a single game. They started out slowly with BK Poprad jumping out to a 7-2 lead, two minutes into the first half.
Illinois cruises past SIU
11:11 PM 11/7/2004 — It was no surprise that Illinois picked up a 78-58 win on Friday over Southern Illinois-Edwardsville.
The Illini, the preseason Big Ten favorite, return all of their starters from last year, including a handful of other top contributors.
But the big surprise on Friday came during the game - six minutes into the game to be exact.
