The 2004 Steelers are emerging as a legitimate Super Bowl contender before our very eyes - one year removed from an unimpressive 6-10 record. Coming into the season, nobody expected the Steelers to do much, especially with an aging Tommy Maddox starting at quarterback.
Punter turns around team momentum

On Oct. 10, he advanced to the Flight 'B' finals of the Louisville Fall Invitational.
This weekend, Eklov reached the Flight Two singles finals and the doubles finals of the UNLV Fall Classic.
Soccer set to play Texas in first round of NCAA tourney

The team is scheduled to play Rice in College Station, Texas, on Friday in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
Members of the soccer team crowded into the women's basketball locker room on Monday at the Ubben Basketball Complex to watch the selection show on ESPN News.
Twirler's boyfriend engages fans in perfect proposal
11:19 PM 11/8/2004 — Illinois feature twirler Mandi Patrick was proposed to by boyfriend Andrew Estep at halftime Saturday.
Patrick, a graduate student and the feature twirler for seven years, has been dating Estep for six months.
"It's been a short dating time, but when you know, you know," Patrick said.
