11:09 PM 11/8/2004 — In today's parity-ridden NFL, a team can go from the dumps to the playoffs in one short season. The 2004 Steelers are emerging as a legitimate Super Bowl contender before our very eyes - one year removed from an unimpressive 6-10 record. Coming into the season, nobody expected the Steelers to do much, especially with an aging Tommy Maddox starting at quarterback.

Punter turns around team momentum

11:13 PM 11/8/2004 — Steve Weatherford is listed on Illinois' roster as a punter. And he's done a good enough job at that position to earn Big Ten special teams player of the week honors and become a semifinalist for the Ray Guy award. But Saturday, Weatherford showed that he can do more than just kick a football. photo
