11:21 PM 11/29/2004 — Put the biggest basketball game on campus since Magic Johnson and No. 1 Michigan State came to town in 1979 aside for a few minutes. I'm serious. There is another important matter at hand. Really, I'm serious. Illinois needs a football coach. Athletic director Ron Guenther is locked in a chamber somewhere deciding on his last major hire at Illinois - probably - and he needs a 55-yard touchdown pass of a hire.
Wrestling finds success in opening tournaments
11:22 PM 11/29/2004 — Senior Brian Glynn matched an accomplishment of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls dynasty on Nov. 21. Glynn (184 pounds) achieved a "three-peat" at the Missouri Open - he was victorious there for the third consecutive season.
"I was very pleased," Glynn said.
Football players honored with postseason awards
11:25 PM 11/29/2004 — The 2004 football season didn't go as planned for Illinois football. The team went 3-8, winning only one Big Ten game. The season was topped off with a devastating, overtime loss to Northwestern and the firing of head coach Ron Turner. But amidst the disappointment, several Illini were recognized for their efforts on the field.
Volleyball heads into postseason
11:09 PM 11/29/2004 — It's hard to utter the words "NCAA tournament" without hearing Dick Vitale interject "Yeah, Baby!" However, as the Illinois women's volleyball team gets ready to begin tournament play, they will do their best without Dicky V.
After the 16th NCAA tournament parings were announced Sunday night, the Illini found out they will again be taking on Don Hardin's previous team Louisville in the opening round.
Club Hockey tops Stallions 10-2, 13-5
11:12 PM 11/29/2004 — Even Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning would be jealous of the numbers the Illini hockey club put up against Western Michigan. Illinois scored 23 times with 14 different players in two games Nov. 19 and 20.
The potent Illini offense smoked the Stallions 10-2 and 13-5 - scores more reminiscent of football than hockey.
