Soldier remembered
11:57 PM 2/6/2005 — Champaign paid tribute to a fallen hero Saturday afternoon as the body of Marine Cpl. Nathaniel K. Moore was guided by a motorcade of police to his final resting place in Matoon, Ill. Known as "Nate" to his friends, Moore grew up in Champaign before enlisting in the Marine Corps.
Personnel staff ratifies contract
11:53 PM 2/6/2005 — Champaign Educational Support Personnel members ratified the school board's proposed three-year contract Saturday, bringing the conflict between the union and the school board closer to resolution. The Champaign School Board members proposed the contract Tuesday night, with greater wages and benefits, in an effort to avert a strike and settle negotiations with union members.

Locals denounce war
12:20 AM 2/7/2005 — Among honking and shouts from passing cars, local residents gathered on the corner of North Prospect Avenue and Marketview Drive Saturday afternoon holding signs and handing out flyers denouncing the war in Iraq.
The group, sponsored by the Anti-war, Anti-racism Effort (AWARE), has been protesting the war since 2001 at the same corner from 2 to 4 p.
Students dance for charity at Boogie Nights
12:22 AM 2/7/2005 — Students spent eight hours dancing and singing at the National Society of Collegiate Scholars' (NSCS) second annual Boogie Night dance marathon for charity Friday night. Each of the 300-plus attendees collected a minimum of $35 in sponsorships to benefit the Children's Miracle Network, said Lorrin Millette, the event's director and University alumnus.

12:09 AM 2/7/2005 — Champaign A 23-year-old man reported a burglary at his home at the 500 block of West Park Street Thursday night. According to a police report, the offender took a laptop computer and 53 DVDs from the residence. An unknown suspect stole a purse from a 15-year-old girl at the 900 block of South Crescent Drive Tuesday afternoon.

1:56 AM 2/7/2005 — (U-WIRE) AUSTIN, Texas - Nudist Texan youth will have a long way to travel for summer camp if a recently filed bill is passed. The bill's author, State Rep. Bryan Hughes (R-Mineola) said he wants nudist youth camps outlawed in Texas, although he isn't aware of any currently operating.
