'Illini' named for state, not natives

Labor day offers time for work or play

11:04 PM 9/1/2005 — The upcoming three-day Labor Day weekend celebration means different things for different people on campus. For some, it offers a chance to sleep in, relax and socialize with friends. Yet for others, the extra day off means a day of catching up on work. Professor Maria Mastronardi, who teaches in the speech communication and communications departments at the University, said she is looking forward to Labor Day weekend, yet she has no specific plans in mind.
