12:34 AM 9/2/2005 — On campus Before the Illinois football games, donations will be taken on Saturday, Sept. 3 and Saturday, Sept. 10 to benefit the Red Cross. On Wednesday, Sept. 7 and Thursday, Sept. 8 donations will also be taken for the Red Cross at the entrances of Physical Plant, Grainger Library, Wohler's Hall, Veterinary Medicine Basic Sciences Building, and the Quad.
University proposes new conference center
12:34 AM 9/2/2005 — Chancellor Richard Herman will request approval from the Board of Trustees Sept. 9 to begin construction for a new conference center. The proposed building would be at the intersection of First Street and St. Mary's Road. The University started planning for this development in February 2005.
Champaign schools choose University employees for board
2:19 PM 4/8/2007 — The Champaign Unit #4 school board filled their two vacancies with a University professor and an engineer Wednesday night. Reginald J. Alston and Minosca Alcantara were chosen to replace Norman Lambert and Nicole Storch on the board. Both Lambert and Storch passed away earlier this year.

Orientation undergoes changes, now spans semester
11:06 PM 9/1/2005 — "It was like 'Hey, welcome to U of I!' and next it was 'Hey, now here's two hours, pick your courses!' as they tossed this huge course book in front of you," said Alyssa Venere when explaining a part of the new orientation process. 2005 has not only been a transition year for Venere, freshman in LAS, it also has been a year of change for the University orientation program.
Students mourn the relocation of Panera
11:01 PM 9/1/2005 — Whispers of confusion traveled across campus last week as students returned to school and discovered the John Street Panera missing. The restaurant had been a daytime hot spot for students, staff and locals. During the summer, it relocated across the street from Marketplace Mall.

10:33 PM 9/1/2005 — Champaign A 36-year-old man was arrested for burglary at the 400 block of First Street on Tuesday morning. According to a police report, the man was seen standing with a cloth covering his face and ran when he saw the police. Three 15-year-old boys reported battery at the intersection of William Street and Hollycrest Drive on Wednesday night.
