The Illini knew before the season began that their schedule was tough and their team was underclassmen-heavy, but through four consecutive losses, including a painful one to Indiana on Saturday, they are starting to feel the sting of inexperience.

1:15 AM 10/10/2005 — The Illini had its worst weekend of the year, and they came back to Champaign in third place in the Big Ten after losing 3-1 at No. 2 Penn State on Friday night and then dropping a 2-1 game Sunday afternoon at Minnesota. Penn State (14-0, 6-0 Big Ten), scored its first goal against the Illini in the 13th minute when senior forward Carmelina Moscato took a pass from sophomore midfielder Aubrey Aden-Buie and beat sophomore goalie Lindsey Carstens down low for her third goal of the season.

Volleyball goes 1-1 in weekend matches
1:19 AM 10/10/2005 — Newly found blocking and serving skills helped the Illini pull off the win on Saturday against Michigan State. After falling to Michigan in three matches on Friday night, Illinois volleyball beat the Spartans in five games in a must-win situation to go 1-1 this weekend and push its Big Ten record to 2-4.
Bittersweet day for Brasic

On one hand, he was 22 of 39 passing for 230 yards and a touchdown, gaining 34 yards on the ground. On the other hand, it was two interceptions and a fumble that led to 21 Indiana points and an Illinois loss.
Weatherford kicks it back into gear
1:03 AM 10/10/2005 — BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Illinois punter Steve Weatherford was back on track Saturday, after struggling with his punting in recent games. Weatherford punted seven times against Indiana, averaging 41.9 yards a punt. Three times he knocked the ball into the 20.
