Hustedt, along with other members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and their supporters, known as allies, took a vow of silence Wednesday.
Third case of mumps hits campus
11:52 PM 4/26/2006 — A probable case of mumps was found at Alpha Omicron Pi sorority house Tuesday. It is the third suspected case to arrive on campus this year. "It is a suspected case," said Robin Kaler, associate chancellor. "It is not a confirmed case. We have contacted anyone who has been in close contact with the person who perhaps has mumps, but there's not really a lot you can do to prevent it.
Novak founds chair position
11:53 PM 4/26/2006 — Chicago Sun-Times columnist Robert Novak established a $1.25 million Robert D. Novak Endowed Chair in western civilization and culture in LAS. Novak graduated from the University with a bachelor's degree in English in 1952 with a minor in History. The endowment fund will be used for things such as the chair's research, graduate student support, travel, publishing and salary supplement, said Paul Osterhout, associate dean for advancement in LAS.
UI research team to aid Air Force
11:55 PM 4/26/2006 — The new Midwest Structural Sciences Center, a University research group, has an ambitious goal to help the Air Force create tools necessary for supersonic and global strike aircraft. The air vehicles division of the Air Force Research Laboratory funds the campus group.

11:58 PM 4/26/2006 — All their work was for one thing: the National Intercollegiate Wheelchair Basketball Tournament, to be hosted by the University of Illinois at the end of March. This was the national championship for collegiate wheelchair basketball. Team Captain Denny Muha and the rest of the team had been preparing all year.

According to a police report, the offender was arrested for operating an uninsured vehicle, failure to reduce speed, breath alcohol over the limit, driving under the influence, and hit and run.
