The University suspended the Irish Illini last spring after the group sent an e-mail to members telling them about drink specials available at their Unofficial Saint Patrick's Day bar crawl. Posting availability of alcohol is against the Registered Student Organization Code.
ON-AIR: Biofuels may do more harm than help
7:31 PM 9/26/2006 — Biofuels may be the solution to foreign fuel and such dangers as pollution, but biofuels may pose their own dangers. Species chosen to be developed as biofuels are usually fast growing, resistant to pests and do not require a lot of water, making them prime to become invasive species.

11:09 PM 9/26/2006 — A homeless man asked James Morris for some spare change as James strolled down the main bar strip with friends in Carbondale, Ill. Even if James had the change, he didn't give it to him - he took the homeless man into the restaurant where he was about to eat and fixed him up with an entire meal.

11:16 PM 9/26/2006 — Champaign A 66-year-old man reported criminal damage to his property at the 3900 block of Aberdeen Drive early Sunday morning. According to a police report, an unknown offender threw a large quantity of garlic onto the man's porch and in his mailbox. No arrests had been made at the time of the report.
Undergraduate Library's recent updates aim to please needs of student body

City Council to decrease tax levy
11:02 PM 9/26/2006 — The Champaign City Council gave staff direction for the 2007 fiscal year tax levy at their meeting Tuesday. Under the direction, the council plans to decrease the original amount of the overall tax levy by $229,000. The plan also stipulates that property tax rates cannot be increased by more than the rate of inflation in 2005, which was 3.
Proposed online educational program faces opposition, concerns in University Senate

University welcomes Katrina summit in efforts to learn from tragedy's mistakes

The summit runs from today to Saturday. It will feature the work and performances of teachers, community members and artists, and will include everything from hip-hop emcees to local artists and academics.
Spellings to redefine college search process
11:13 PM 9/26/2006 — WASHINGTON - Education Secretary Margaret Spellings launched plans Tuesday to redefine the college experience, promising less confusion and more results for families.
Spellings said she would make a handful of changes on her own and start building support for some of the more sweeping ideas that came from her higher education commission.
