Tom Abram is a Green Party candidate for the 103rd District and he says it's really important that this University be funded adequately, which it hasn't been in the past.

Quad protest targets racial stereotyping
2:33 PM 11/1/2006 — With signs reading "The fight is far from over" and "My culture is not a costume," hundreds of students filled the Quad side of the Illini Union this afternoon for a rally entitled "Breaking the Silence."
The rally was organized by Students Transforming Oppression and Privilege (STOP).
Krannert gets prized artifact instruments

6:37 PM 10/31/2006 — Monday marked the rush to the school's registration web site and the student created schedule generator, Scheedule should ease students in their schedule selection. Junior Suraj Samaranayake and six other computer science students created Scheedule, an automatic schedule generator open to all students.
Ameren IP denies earnings cover-up
12:35 AM 11/1/2006 — its customers have circulated. One recent report claims that Ameren IP is seeking to underhandedly cover up its earnings beginning Jan. 1, when the price hike will take effect for consumers. Leigh Morris, a spokesman for Ameren IP, said that while the company made a recent filing with the commission, the reason was not to cover up their earnings.
Foreign T.A.s must pass English exam
11:49 PM 10/31/2006 — The University requires all prospective teaching assistants who are not native speakers of English to take an oral English proficiency exam prior to entering the classroom. The policy is not new, but rather the result of legislation passed by the Illinois State Senate in 1986.

UI study links obesity, gas usage

According to a University study, this significant increase in annual fuel consumption is due to weight gain in both men and women over the last four decades.
SIU chancellor plagiarizes old school's growth plan
11:46 PM 10/31/2006 — Southern Illinois University's chancellor admitted "lifting" excerpts from a strategic plan for a Texas school where he worked and using them in the Carbondale school's long-range blueprint, a panel has found. The three-person panel comprised of members from various university departments and schools also is urging the Illinois school to review its anti-plagiarism policies.
