From the news desk

I believe that the news desk at The Daily Illini this semester has provided the Champaign-Urbana and University community with some great coverage of both interesting and important issues. Although I wish that we could have had more long-term stories, I think the articles we published, especially about the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District, the ZBT Tri-Delt situation and Global Campus, contained exceptional reporting and provided our readers with a much deeper understanding of these crucial topics. The Daily Illini was also responsible for breaking the story about Chris Fu, the student who died after falling from the broadcast tower. This story was covered with the agility and skill of a practiced news organization, complete with constant online updates. The stories in this edition are not only the most important of the semester; they are the ones we are most proud to appear under The Daily Illini flag.
