Libby found guilty in CIA leak case
12:32 PM 3/6/2007 — WASHINGTON - Former White House aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby was convicted Tuesday of obstruction, perjury and lying to the FBI in an investigation into the leak of CIA operative Valerie Plame's identity to reporters.
Libby, former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, was acquitted on just one of five charges after a trial that focused renewed attention on the Bush administration's claims of evidence about weapons of mass destruction in the run-up to the Iraq war.

University athletes dismissed from teams, enter plea
8:59 AM 3/6/2007 — Wide receivers Jody Ellis and Derrick McPhearson were dismissed from the Illinois football team Monday afternoon, hours after each pled not guilty to four counts of residential burglary and two counts of theft over $300 at their arraignment.
Football coach Ron Zook said he spoke with Athletic Director Ron Guenther and Chancellor Richard Herman, and the three agreed that the alleged criminal activity was intolerable.

Senator wants trustee elections
1:49 AM 3/6/2007 — Two actions taken by State Sen. Bill Brady, R?Bloomington, on Friday could influence the University.
Brady filed legislation that would change the way trustees are selected to serve on the Board of Trustees. Trustees are currently appointed by the governor and must be confirmed by the State Senate.

Officers issue 162 notices on Unofficial
2:32 AM 3/6/2007 — As students celebrated Unofficial St. Patrick's Day on March 2, authorities in the campus community took action against underage drinking and other illegal activities. The Champaign Police Department enforcement effort wrote a total of 162 notices to appear in court during Unofficial as part of the Operation Campus/Tap program aimed at reducing underage drinking, according to a police press release.

iPods hit the classroom

Kathy O'Connor is the Associate Director of English and Foreign Languages at Tidewater Community College, and she uses iPod's in her Spanish classes.

Sorority accused of discrimination
1:47 AM 3/6/2007 — Delta Zeta's national officers have been accused of evicting 23 women at the DePauw University chapter based on looks, race and academic major.
After 98 years on the DePauw University campus in Greencastle, Ind., the Delta Zeta sorority members voted in August to close their chapter after the 2006-2007 school year in hopes of reorganizing in the future.

Cities reach joint cable agreement
2:04 AM 3/6/2007 — The City of Urbana voted to create an agreement with the City of Champaign to jointly negotiate cable franchises with Insight Communications on Monday night.
Once agreed upon by both cities, the agreement would allow the cities to hire an outside consulting firm, Moss & Barnett, to negotiate with Insight.
