4:19 PM 3/12/2007 — University Board of Trustees will discuss and vote on two resolutions concerning Chief Illiniwek at the board meeting Tuesday at the Pine Lounge of Illini Union: one that would ratify the decisions announced Feb. 16 and another calling for the board to join Chief portrayers Dan Maloney and Logan Ponce in the suit asking the courts whether the sanctions levied against the University for the Chief Illiniwek symbol "are legal, valid or enforceable.

American Indian denounces University's Chief decision

When he heard the news that Dan Maloney performed his final dance as the Chief, Yeagley said he was disappointed.
"I felt it was a mistake - that the University had caved in," he said.

Senate pending marijuana drug bill
9:41 PM 3/11/2007 — What do Amsterdam and Illinois have in common? There may not be much similarity now, but on Tuesday a bill was sent to the Senate Public Health Committee regarding the legalization of medical marijuana in Illinois.
This bill would legalize the use of medical marijuana in some hospitals as a medicinal treatment.

Plane crashes in Indiana, killing two men aboard
9:39 PM 3/11/2007 — MUNSTER, Ind. - A plane that crashed into a Munster street, killing both men aboard, had taken off moments earlier from an Illinois airport and was headed back there, the craft's owner said.
The crash occurred about 7:30 p.m. Friday on the four-lane Calumet Avenue, about one mile east of Lansing Municipal Airport, an air strip along the Illinois-Indiana state border.

In Illinois' three-game weekend set with the Mavericks of Texas-Arlington, the Illini jumped out to early leads in all three games of 7-3, 3-2 and 5-2 in its three games, only to squander them away and lose 8-7, 13-6 and 12-5, respectively, to be swept for the second time this season.
