A different perspective

In response to Lally Gartel's article on Daniel Dennett's lecture, I'd encourage all attendees to read "The Case for Faith" by Lee Strobel. This book was written by an atheist who set out to disprove religion, and specifically Christianity. By attempting to do so, he actually saw strong evidence for the other side. He eventually became a Christian.
One of Dennett's frameworks of his ideologies is that people tend to find evidence that supports the things in which they already believe. "The Case for Faith" completely knocks this claim off its block.
Not many attempt to seek out evidence for the worldview they already hold; it just is. If you don't recognize the ways in which your history and experiences affect your view, you don't go seeking evidence to prove yourself right.
Even people who claim to have no specific worldview on religion and faith, simply by that claim, hold one. Lee Strobel scoured the world in search of the Truth, only to find it in the last place he was expecting.
C.S. Lewis, the most famous Christian author in history, once said, "I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen; not only because I see it, but because by it, I see everything else." It's all in how you look at things.
And, Daniel Dennett, I'm sending you a copy.

C.S. Lewis is the most famous Christian author in history? Wow, I thought that distinction would have gone to Paul. Or Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John. (Continued…)

Quack: Fred--good point, it's a bit obtuse and probably Euro-centric to call CS the most famous Christian author--I doubt Christians in China or Sri Lanka run around quoting him. (Continued…)
