The College of Engineering’s annual Engineering Open House, or EOH, will begin Friday and continue into Saturday. This student-led event holds exhibits in all of the engineering buildings, highlighting projects that University students have been working on all year long.

At a Feb. 24 Illinois Student Senate meeting, Student Trustee-elect, Daniel Soso questioned why the free student publication, The Black Sheep, or Booze News, was not allowed to be distributed within University buildings.

The University’s Board of Trustees met on the Urbana campus Wednesday and addressed issues for the upcoming academic and fiscal year. New degree programs, faculty development and a summary of the University’s fiscal condition were among the topics of discussion.

Some community members and local city residents are criticizing Champaign’s continuation of the Olympian Drive project. The project will construct an arterial road stretching east to west across northern Champaign-Urbana. It has been in the works for 25 years.

A University student won $30,000 for creating a low-cost prosthetic limb for people in developing countries. Jonathan Naber, junior in Engineering, won the Lemelson-Illinois Student Prize earlier this month. Every year the prize is awarded to a student who creates a sustainable solution to a real-world problem.

Aggravated battery was reported at the 700 block of South Randolph Street, Wednesday morning.

According to the police report, the offender cut the victim with an unknown object and has not yet been located.

A 32-year-old woman was arrested at the 400 block of Dodson Drive, Wednesday morning.
