Champaign may tighten alcohol laws
12:37 AM 9/18/2007 — The Champaign City Council will vote Tuesday night on an ordinance banning shot servers and celebrity bartenders and limiting private parties at bars.
Champaign mayor and liquor commissioner Gerald Schweighart said the proposed ordinance is intended to deter binge drinking at campus bars, though he said it is unlikely to accomplish that goal.

Ill., U.S. farmers switch fields from soy to corn production

In the National Agricultural Statistics Service Acreage report for 2007, released at the end of June, it is reported that the nation has increased its production of corn by 19 percent since 2006, while soy production has decreased by 15 percent.

Urbana finalizes street closings for Carle Hospital

9:25 PM 9/17/2007 — Champaign Two 20-year-old men were reported to have damaged several building fixtures at 88 West Apartments at the 2000 block of Moreland Boulevard, Sept. 2.
