At first glance, the Illinois roster is slim compared to the 2004-05 team manned by now-NBA star Deron Williams and Illinois legend Dee Brown. It's easy for Illini nation to get spoiled with such athletes.

Zook gets raise, contract extension
4:31 PM 10/17/2007 — Ron Zook's contract was extended by an additional three years through January 2013 on Wednesday.
"The reason for the extension of the contract was that Coach Zook has
delivered on a promise that the University and the Board of Trustees had when
he was hired three years ago- that he was going to represent the Urbana
campus well and turn around the football program," said Tom Hardy, University spokesman.

Hoosiers fans and alumni may not be so inclined to accept them.
Sampson's second brush with NCAA violations in 17 months has created a stir. Some contend his actions have harmed the university's reputation so badly that taking away his $500,000 raise and a future team scholarship do not go far enough.

Midnight Madness rocks Assembly Hall
4:10 AM 10/17/2007 — When the men's basketball team wasn't rocking on the bench during dance performances, it was dominating the court at Midnight Madness Friday night.
Following dance routines by Alpha Phi Alpha, "The Brickheadz" and Muntu Dance Theater, the Illini men's basketball teams took to the court for a three-point contest, dunk contest and a team scrimmage.
