Illini recover in second half to top Huskies
5:03 PM 11/12/2007 — After falling behind at the start of the game 9-4 and allowing the Huskies to stay within striking distance, the Illinois men's basketball team whimpered into halftime with a meager three-point lead, 22-19. It had been missing wide-open shots, contested shots and layups throughout the first half and had 10 turnovers while shooting just 29.

Injuries unable to stop hockey from winning
10:10 PM 11/11/2007 — Injuries changed the look of the Illinois hockey club's lineup, but the result was very familiar.
In the final series before fall break, No. 1-ranked Illinois cruised to its 12th and 13th victories of the season, defeating the St. Louis Billikens 6-1 Friday and 8-0 Saturday.

Women's soccer unable to come back against Purdue, losing semifinal match
11:36 PM 11/11/2007 — A day after the Illinois women's soccer pulled out its first come-from-behind victory of the season, the team fell far behind Purdue and could not recover.
The 3-0 loss is the Illini's second to Purdue on the season and knocked Illinois out of the Big Ten Tournament.

Volleyball suffers disappointing loss to Michigan

Looking to stay in third place in the Big Ten, the Illini (15-11, 7-9 Big Ten) came out flat against a Michigan team that had just come off a tough, five-game battle the night before against Wisconsin.

Young players rise to challenge against Buckeyes
11:49 PM 11/11/2007 — COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Illinois football team added its biggest victim to its revenge tour, upending the No. 1 team in the country on the road with big contributions from a few of its freshmen.
In the week leading up to the game, Illini head coach Ron Zook was asked if his talented group of freshmen and sophomores would be intimidated playing at Ohio Stadium for the first time.

Illini swimming, diving team shakes up lineup, edges in-state rival
11:17 PM 11/11/2007 — The Illini swimming and diving team topped Illinois State on Saturday, 172-128, following a busy schedule last week.
Head coach Sue Novitsky played with the lineup to give the Illini a different look. But the team fought hard under unfamiliar circumstances, winning 12 of 16 events.

Illinois beats two packs of Panthers
11:20 PM 11/11/2007 — The Illinois women's basketball team opened up its season with a double dose of Panthers. On Friday the Illini faced the Eastern Illinois Panthers followed by the Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers on Sunday. Illinois was able to tame both of them.
The team tested its new full-court pressure defense for the first time this weekend, while sophomore center Jenna Smith led the team with double-doubles in both games.

Senior standout motors to victory, advancing to Nationals as Illinois misses out on qualifying as team
10:12 PM 11/11/2007 — Trent Hoerr has yet another accomplishment to add to his senior season running for the Fighting Illini men's cross country team. At Saturday's NCAA Midwest Regional in Peoria, Hoerr captured the individual title in the 10 kilometer race with a time of 29 minutes, 56 seconds.

Taking home second place honors behind Minnesota at Saturday's Midwest Regional meet, the team has one more week to prepare for the National Championships.

I was relegated to watching this game from the confined comfort of my apartment couch with some friends.
