Paris trumps Illinois as women's team folds to Oklahoma, Player of the Year
12:11 AM 12/6/2007 — Oklahoma center Courtney Paris showed the 1,352 fans in attendance at Assembly Hall why she was the AP National Player of the Year. From the field, Paris shot 10-of-13 scoring 22 points in the game and snagged 14 rebounds as the Oklahoma Sooners defeated the Illini 77-67.

Hockey looks to continue undefeated season
8:44 PM 12/5/2007 — The Illinois mens hockey team is currently undefeated this season and looks to keep winning. For the Illini, the goals are always to win the League and National tournements, but going undefeated would be a bonus. Assistant Coach Darin Trulock said that even though the team has struggled at times, their record is some how still unblemished.

Finalists announced in race for Heisman
11:37 PM 12/5/2007 — NEW YORK - Florida quarterback Tim Tebow, trying to become the first sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy, and Arkansas running back Darren McFadden, the runner-up for last year's award, were among the four finalists selected Wednesday.
Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel and Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan were the other finalists.

Baseball writers decide players cannot earn bonuses for garnering award votes
11:32 PM 12/5/2007 — NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Baseball players no longer would receive bonuses for winning the Most Valuable Player, Cy Young or rookie awards bestowed by the Baseball Writers' Association of America under a rule passed Wednesday.
Starting in 2013, players with such bonus clauses in their contracts will be banned from receiving votes for any BBWAA awards.

Bears have to revamp offensive line or risk bad future
12:07 AM 12/6/2007 — These days it has become a theme to start thinking about the next year with Chicago sports teams. This time it has hit the Chicago Bears. With their most recent defeat against the New York Giants, the Bears have fallen to 5-7 and are a long shot at best to make the playoffs following their Super Bowl season a year ago.
