Student org. seeks to permit guns at Illinois

The organization they formed, Students for Concealed Carry on Campus (SCCC), wants states to allow students with concealed gun permits to bring their firearms to campus.

Scott Park renovation scheduled
8:22 PM 5/5/2008 — Drainage problems in the Second Street reach of Boneyard Creek, located in Scott Park, have led to an improvement project that will commence at the start of summer, which is earlier than originally planned.
The Champaign City Council decided to accelerate the project to begin this summer due to the city's policy to close major streets only during the summer or University breaks.

Police continue to investigate fatal car accident
12:39 AM 4/14/2008 — After hitting several trees at a high rate of speed around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, William Brown, 28, of Springfield, Ill., was pronounced dead at Carle Foundation Hospital about a half-hour later. There were two other passengers injured in the crash, one in "serious" condition, according to a press release from the Champaign Police Department.

More than 20 antiwar protesters stood on the four corners of the intersection shouting antiwar slogans before lying down in the middle of the street and staging a "die-in" protest whenever the traffic lights turned red.

9:38 PM 4/13/2008 — Champaign A 49-year-old woman reported residential burglary at the 2700 block of Lawndale Drive on Wednesday afternoon. According to a police report, an 18-year-old male suspect entered her residence to use the bathroom, and after he left, the victim discovered an electronic game missing.
