Versatile freshman Haig juggles baseball, football
12:05 AM 4/30/2008 — While Kyle Hudson has received much of the attention for being a two-sport athlete at Illinois, another multisport student is quietly playing a similar role in the same two sports.
Freshman Phil Haig made his debut on the pitching mound on April 7 at Indiana to become the second player on the team to throw on a football jersey in the fall and trade it in for a baseball uniform in the spring.

Morneau's clutch double gives Twins 4-3 win over White Sox
6:06 PM 4/30/2008 — MINNEAPOLIS - Justin Morneau came through with yet another clutch hit for the Minnesota Twins. The Chicago White Sox should have taken notes.
After giving themselves chance after chance to break a game open, the White Sox watched Morneau hit a two-out RBI double in the seventh inning to give Nick Blackburn and the Twins a 4-3 victory on Wednesday.

Errors come back to hurt Illini in loss to SIU

The Illini committed six errors in their 3-2 loss to Southern Illinois at Illinois Field. A throwing error on sophomore Brandon Wikoff in the 11th allowed a Saluki runner to come around to score and seal the team's fate.

Men to use home meet for endurance

As the Big Ten regular season comes to a close this weekend, Mexicano has four more games to ensure her spot on the national leaderboard, and Illinois has one more opportunity to get any remaining kinks out of its armor.

Women's track returns to host Illinois Twilight

Freshman outfielder earns Big Ten honor after weekend

The freshman outfielder earned his first Big Ten honor Monday after going 11-for-15 in four games against Penn State over the weekend.
