Men's tennis overcomes 2-0 hole to reach round of 16
2:47 AM 5/12/2008 — A nervous hush fell over the outdoor courts of Atkins Tennis Center on Saturday, as a visiting LSU team, scoring in timely bursts, built an early 2-0 lead against the favored Illini.
An escape to the NCAA Tournament's round of 16 required host Illinois to do something it has failed to do the entire season - pull out a win after dropping the doubles point.

Cornerback Davis named to Nagurski Trophy Watch List
11:29 PM 5/12/2008 — The Football Writers Association of America named Illini junior cornerback Vontae Davis to the preseason Watch List for the 2008 Nagurski Trophy, awarded to the nation's top defensive player.
After finishing the 2007 season sixth in the Big Ten in both interceptions and passes defended, Davis garnered first-team All-Big Ten honors in his second season starting at cornerback for Illinois.

Illinois pitching falls apart in rain-shortened series

Heavy rain and tornado warnings canceled Sunday's game, robbing Illinois of a chance to split the series with the Buckeyes, who sit two spots behind the third-place Illini in the conference standings.

Iowa ends softball's season at Big Ten tourney

Iowa swept both games against the Illini in Urbana to close out the regular season, outscoring the Orange and Blue 17-8. For a third time in less than one week, the two squads faced off, however, this time extending the season was on the line in the opening round of the Big Ten Tournament, held in Evanston, Ill.
