Baseball hammered by Purdue for 14 runs in series opener
11:25 PM 5/16/2008 — Pitcher Kevin Manson lost his first start in 5 outings as the Illini dropped this weekend's series opener to Purdue 14-4. With the win, Purdue clinched second place in the Big Ten standings, which could have been taken by Illinois with a sweep. Illinois did however benefit from Michigan State's two losses to Indiana, guaranteeing the Illini a spot in the Big Ten Tournament.

Men's tennis falls to Ohio State 4-3 in NCAA tourney

After losing to the Buckeyes in both the regular season and the Big Ten Tournament finals, the Illini dropped a 4-3 heartbreaker in the NCAA Tournament round of 16 in Tulsa, Okla.

Purdue's slugging duo too much for Illini to handle in series finale

Purdue's Dan Black and Ryne White went hitless in the first half of Saturday's double dip, a 2-0 Illini win. But the two combined for five hits, four runs, five RBIs and two home runs in the nightcap.

The women are hoping for a repeat of last year's outdoor championships, where head coach Gary Winckler and the Illini captured a share of the conference championship with Michigan, the coach's sixth title at Illinois.

Men's golf tied for sixth after first round of NCAA regionals
12:30 AM 5/16/2008 — Larry Blatt's 2-over 73 led the team as Illinois shot a combined 14-over 298 in the first round of the NCAA Central Regional on Thursday.
The No. 18-seed Illini are tied for sixth with two rounds remaining at Ohio State's newly-renovated Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio.
