Champaign apartment building catches fire

A Champaign apartment complex at 2407 Hampshire Drive was heavily damaged and two firefighters received minor injuries while fighting the blaze there Friday afternoon.
Multiple calls to the Champaign Fire Department reported the 12-unit Twin Oaks Apartment complex was on fire. Firefighters on scene found heavy smoke coming from the building's Mattis Avenue side and called a second alarm as all occupants of the building were evacuated, according to a news release.
No civilian injuries were reported by the department.
