Autopsy confirms toddler drowned in Champaign pool

An autopsy performed Tuesday morning has confirmed a 3-year-old boy drowned in a backyard pool Monday afternoon.

Wyatt Daniel DeJesus of Linton, Ind., was pronounced dead at 1:16 p.m. at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

The boy was transported to the hospital from an address at the 4300 block of Brittany Trail Drive after Champaign firefighters responded to the home at 12:34 p.m. for a child in a pool.

The Champaign County coroner's office has conducted toxicology tests. An inquest may be scheduled for a later date.
