Drinking tickets fail to pour in major revenue

Though the money generated from students fund operations that mainly benefit the people of Champaign and Urbana and not students, the enforcement of underage drinking has helped students indirectly.

The Illinois State Police (ISP) and the Champaign Police Department conducted two Operation Campus/ Tap details on Feb. 27 and March 6. A total of 64 citations were issued at 12 bars in Champaign.

ExplorACES event opens up campus to interested high school students

On Friday, the ExplorACES event was in full swing with high school and grade school students touring the ACES campus. The students were checking out the departmental booths in the ACES library and the exhibits in Turner Hall and the Agricultural Engineering Sciences Building.

Champaign County residents criticize continued Olympian Drive project

Some community members and local city residents are criticizing Champaign’s continuation of the Olympian Drive project. The project will construct an arterial road stretching east to west across northern Champaign-Urbana. It has been in the works for 25 years.

ACES hosts program to draw in new students

This weekend, the ExplorACES program will give potential students a look at what the College of ACES has to offer.

Highlights will include a chocolate fountain, profiles of edible soil and at least a couple of exhibits that are particularly hands-on.

Police Blotter 03-12-2010

Champaign

Aggravated battery was reported at the 700 block of South Randolph Street, Wednesday morning.

According to the police report, the offender cut the victim with an unknown object and has not yet been located.

A 32-year-old woman was arrested at the 400 block of Dodson Drive, Wednesday morning.
