The Cook County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Marshals arrested a man accused of murdering a 28-year-old Champaign man Friday evening.

According to a Champaign police department release issued Saturday, Granville Sanchez Johnson was apprehended at a home in Chicago and is being held at the Cook County Department of Corrections.

A warrant for Johnson's arrest on charges of Gregory Moore's murder and the attempted murder of another 21-year-old man was issued Thursday.

Champaign police were called to the 200 block of Roper Street in Champaign Wednesday close to 11 p.m. Moore was discovered at the scene with fatal bullet wounds. He was pronounced dead at Carle Foundation Hospital at 11:35 p.m. The 21-year-old man was also transported to the hospital for treatment of a bullet wound and survived. His identity has not been released by police.

The warrant was based on "probable cause," according to the release. The department is continuing their investigation.
