Although Krispy Kreme won't be bringing its doughnuts to Campustown in a dedicated store in the near future, another large retailer is expected to open up shop on Green St.

Rumors had been circulating on campus that Krispy Kreme would open up a store near the corner of Green and Wright in the Green Street Towers building.

This is not true, said Jill Guth, a representative from JSM Development, which manages and owns the building. Although Krispy Kreme will begin distributing doughnuts each day to Mobil/Super Pantry gas stations, she said they had not yet committed to a stand-alone store.

There are two Mobil gas stations on campus, one at the corner of First and Green streets in Champaign and another at the intersection of Green St. and Lincoln Ave. in Urbana.

However, a major announcement by JSM regarding a business in the location is expected soon.

"We'll be making an announcement in the next two weeks," Guth said.

She would not comment on the nature of the new business, other than that it is a major national retailer.
