Professor Wozniak suspended for inappropriate e-mail, among other charges

Associate Professor Louis Wozniak’s teaching suspension is currently under investigation after he filed a complaint with the University’s Committee on Academic Freedom and Tenure for not having received a hearing, a necessary step to suspend a faculty member.

Oil platform explodes off La. coast, no one killed

An oil platform exploded and burned off the Louisiana coast Thursday, the second such disaster in the Gulf of Mexico in less than five months. This time, the Coast Guard said there was no leak, and no one was killed.

Champaign public library to charge nearby county card holders

Library cards from Mahomet and Tolono public libraries will no longer be accepted at the Champaign public library beginning Nov. 1st of this year. To access the library’s materials patrons must now purchase a Champaign card for a $200 annual fee.

Champaign

  • Theft of $300 and under was reported at the 700 block of South Sixth Street on Saturday.
  • According to the police report, the victim showed his driver’s license to enter into a bar. He realized the next day that he did not have his driver’s license and returned to the business but was told that it was not there.
  • A 20-year old man was arrested at the 200 block of East Chalmers Street on Saturday.
