An unfair labor practice charge has been filed against the University by the Visiting Academic Professionals.

According to a press release, the Visiting Academic Professionals (VAP) is a University bargaining agent for 300 Academic Professionals and are affiliated with the Association of Academic Professionals.

The press release stated that the charge was filed on Feb. 2 and is now before the Illinois Education Labor Relations Board.

The release stated that in the charges, VAP alleges the University violated the labor act by unilaterally imposing furloughs, bypassing the collective bargaining representative when offering voluntary pay reduction, and failing to bargain changes in the appointment notices.
