Two cases of suspected swine flu are under investigation in Champaign County, an official of Champaign-Urbana Public Health District confirmed today.

Both people have been hospitalized in Urbana after testing positive for influenza A, said public health administrator Julie Pryde. By the end of the week it will be possible to confirm whether or not the patients are infected with the H1N1 virus.

“We do expect that at some point we will get confirmed cases in our county,” Pryde said.

The Illinois Public Health District is not recommending school closures, based on procedures from federal authorities at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
