Graduation Guide 2009

Graduation is just around the corner and the recent grads can look forward to the celebrating their achievements with peers, family and alumni at Gradfest 2009 on May 16 from noon to 2 p.m.

In May, many graduating seniors will move from the Champaign-Urbana area either back home or to a new pad. No matter how you look at it, both options have several pros and cons.

As 2009 graduates go off into their future careers and scatter across the country, they will still be able to keep in touch through the use of social networking sites, video chat and phone calls.

As a law student, undergrads are always asking me questions. "Why do you think I care that you're a law student?" is a typical one. The truth is, we graduate-level students have a lot of wisdom, as measured in ponytails.

Champaign-Urbana may not have as much to do as a large city, but I believe it is the gem of east-central Illinois. I've discovered certain activities or places in the past four years that have made C-U win my heart. There's so much more to these towns than the Quad and Kam's, and it took me years to really appreciate that. So whether you have three weeks left here or three years, get off campus, even if it's just for a day.
