After a year in college, I've been a model of success. I developed an antagonistic relationship with my roommate after I repeatedly locked her out (not on purpose, but try telling her that), got a B in a one-credit-hour class, and found myself stuck in a major in which I saw no practical value. But these experiences have not been without value. So let me explain.

The freshman dorm is the epicenter of freshman year. It is where students socialize, study, sleep and eat, but, most importantly, it is their home. This is why it is imperative that your dorm room is properly equipped with all the freshman year essentials and decked out in latest decor.

In my first class freshman year, my professor began to go on a rant saying that everyone needed to be careful here on campus. Most of the students expected her to begin to talk about drinking on campus, walking alone at night or something to that extent. This was not the case. She was talking about the bikes.

Recap: The highlight of the season came early when Illinois took two of three from then-No. 1 LSU, who went on to win the national title at the College World Series. But as the season went on consistency proved difficult. Key losses towards the end kept the Illini - who spent most of the season in contention for a Big Ten title - out of the NCAA Regionals.
