ST. LOUIS — As training camp opened Thursday, the St. Louis Rams had just one draft pick still unsigned, but it was the big one — No. 2 overall selection Jason Smith.

Three players agreed to contracts on Wednesday — second-round pick James Laurinaitis, fourth-rounder Darell Scott and sixth-rounder Keith Null. Terms were not disclosed.

Also Wednesday, St. Louis signed free agent defensive tackle Hollis Thomas, a 13-year veteran who was with the Saints the past three seasons. The Rams also waived defensive linemen Kriston Pittman and Willie Williams, and wide receivers Travis Brown and Horace Gant.

Laurinaitis is a middle linebacker from Ohio State, Scott a defensive lineman from Clemson and Null a quarterback from West Texas A&M.
