DeBruler named 1st team All-American

After leading the Illinois volleyball team to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament, junior outside hitter Laura DeBruler was named first team All-America. This is the second All-America honor for DeBruler, as she received second team last year.

Despite tournament loss, Illini finish season strong

What happened: The Illinois volleyball team made it to the Sweet 16 for the second consecutive year, but yet again it just was not meant to be. After a strong regular season performance, which saw the Illini become a regular in the top 10 of national rankings, they fell to Hawaii in four sets in the Sweet 16.

Volleyball falls to Hawaii in Sweet 16

The No. 5 national seed Illinois volleyball team traveled to Stanford, Calif., for an NCAA regional semifinal matchup against No. 12 national seed Hawaii on Friday.

But the Illini's volleyball season ended there, as they fell to the Rainbow Wahine in four sets, 21-25, 25-10, 27-25, 25-16.

Illinois volleyball faces similar style in Sweet 16 matchup against Hawaii

Volleyball head coach Kevin Hambly gets to take a trip home to California before Christmas. However, he won’t be doing much visiting with family, as he will be busy leading No. 5 Illinois (26-5) in its Sweet 16 match against Hawaii on Friday night.

McCulley, Edinger aid in transformation to ‘volley-dorks’ as Illinois program continues improvement

When senior Illini volleyball players Ashley Edinger and Kylie McCulley entered the program as freshmen, they joined a team that was near the bottom of the Big Ten. This year they are in the Sweet 16.

Hambly: We are as good as Haen

On Nov. 28, the Illinois volleyball team fell at Minnesota in three sets with Hillary Haen on the court. Problem was, the junior setter was still recovering from sickness.

The Illini defeated Dayton in four sets at Huff Hall in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday night. The route to another Sweet 16 berth got off to a rough start, though, as Dayton edged out the Illini, 28-26, in the first set.

Illini volleyball advances to Sweet 16

It was a shaky start for the Illinois volleyball team, but it made it out on top Friday night in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, beating Dayton in four sets.

The first set went to Dayton, 28-26, going back and forth the entire time.

Volleyball sweeps IPFW in tournament opener

In the NCAA Tournament, the volleyball team ended the Mastadons' season in the first round. The volleyball team continues on to the next round and they are ready to play against the Dayton Flyers.

Illinois volleyball defeats Northwestern

The No. 5 Illinois volleyball team defeated Big Ten rival Northwestern in four sets Wednesday night to bring its conference record to 16-3.

The team had to play without star setter junior Hillary Haen, but the Illini made quick work of the first two sets, 26-24, 25-21.
