After weeks of struggling to find its rhythm, the No. 4 Illinois men’s gymnastics team came together to post its highest score of the season (359.100).
The numbers were not enough to give the Illini a win against No. 2 Oklahoma, but Illinois did beat No. 5 Penn State who they lost to earlier this season.
The Sooners posted the highest score in the NCAA this season (366.400).
Senior Daniel Ribeiro won the title on the pommel horse, marking his sixth title of the year and a season-high score of 15.950. Junior Tyler Mizoguchi took the crown on the parallel bars. Mizoguchi competed in the all-around, posting his career-high on four of the six events and taking second on the vault and all-around.
Illinois has one week left of regular season competition, when they celebrate senior night at Huff Hall in a duel meet against UIC next Saturday.
